In these kinds of coconut fiber products are imported from Japan , the coco peat products are the most import . Coco peat is used mostly for agricultural cultivation , fertilizer , animal food and occasionally is used for animal nest . From May 01-11 / 2013 Japan imported 34 833 tonnes of coco peat , reaching approximately 82.6 % of total exports of Sri Lanka coco peat ( reaching 42 147 tonnes ) . Among the products of the coconut fiber from Sri Lanka , the export coco peat is the most, accounting for 57.8 % of total exports of the country. From 01 - 11/2013 , exports only rubberised coir from this country increased by about 89 % , or nearly double the exports of the same period last year, exports increased by about 39 Coir mats % compared with exports last year .
